Tri-Lakes Community Health Center (TLCHC) began offering walk-in services 6 days a week for urgent care needs as of May 1.
TLCHC offers medical, dental, mental health, and a range of support services to all local residents. The clinic accepts Medicaid, Medicare, most commercial insurance, and offers a sliding fee scale for the uninsured.
“As a Federally Qualified Community Health Center, part of our mission is to reduce barriers to people getting the healthcare they need. Having extended hours, including Saturday hours, is an important step in removing those barriers,” said Robert Marsh, executive director.
The clinic provides medical services for all ages, from infants to geriatrics. Dr. T.L. Huffman and Dr. Randal Hamric, along with Nurse Practitioners Jane Stonner and Betty Bruce, provide a full range of family practice services, such as annual exams, women’s health, well child checkups and school physicals, immunizations, lab tests and chronic disease maintenance.
Walk-in services will include x-rays, stitches, immunizations, school physicals, and treatment of common illnesses and injuries. While it is always best to receive care from your primary care provider, adding walk-in services expands access for both the clinic’s patients and provides access to all patients when they need care and can not get in to their regular medical provider.
“We expect to have a wall full of fish hooks in no time at all,” said Marsh with a smile.
The clinic will now be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clinic will be open every holiday but Christmas and Sunday holidays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning with the Memorial Day holiday.
