James Duff, MD
James Duff is a Board certified internist with 27 years of private practice experience. In addition to his private practice, he has been professor of Internal Medicine for CoxHealth Family Care Residency in Springfield, MO for the past 13 years.
Dr. Duff has also served as Medical Director of Jordan Valley Community Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center serving a wide range of patient needs in Springfield.
Graduating medical school from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Dr. Duff stayed on to complete residency training in Internal Medicine prior to establishing private practice in Springfield (MO).
In addition to active practice in general Internal Medicine and residency teaching, he has served in hospital administration positions including Chief of Internal Medicine for four years at CoxHealth. He is certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and helped develop one of the first inpatient Palliative Care services in the state.
His interest in end-of-life care and medical education led to collaboration with the Community Alliance for Compassionate Care at the End of Life (CACCEL). Through this effort, the AMA's Educating Physicians in End of Life Care (EPEC) curriculum was adapted for both physician and non-physician healthcare providers. Dr. Duff has presented this curriculum to over 600 train-the-trainer participants in Missouri and Arkansas.
Dr. Duff's broad interest in quality improvement has led to particular interest and knowledge in the area of ambulatory office redesign.
Related interests include work in Central America (where he has provided patient care), as well as assistance to regional healthcare systems in Nicaragua.
